Mahjong table sizes, open and folded.
Whether a table fits during the game is rarely the real question. Where it goes afterwards usually is. These are the measurements that decide both, for the two automatic tables we sell and for the room around them.
Short answer: an automatic mahjong table is about 93 to 96 cm square and 78 cm high. With four players seated, plan for a clear area of roughly 2.4 by 2.4 m. Both of our tables fold upright to 30 cm deep, so they can stand against a wall between games.

How much room four players need
The table is only part of the footprint. Each player needs space to sit, push the chair back and stand up without asking the person behind to move. Measure the clear floor space, not the room: sofas, cabinets and the swing of a door all count.
Comfortable
2.4 × 2.4 m
About 70 cm from each table edge to the nearest wall or furniture. Room to stand up and walk behind a seated player.
Snug
2.2 × 2.2 m
About 60 cm per side. Workable with armless chairs, though standing up means tucking the chair in first.

Why folded depth matters more than table size
Open, most automatic tables are within a few centimetres of each other. Folded, they are not. A conventional folding automatic table still stands about 60 cm deep, roughly the depth of a washing machine. At 30 cm, a table reads as a slim panel against the wall rather than a machine in the room.
- Against a living room wall, without narrowing the walkway.
- Along a corridor, where a 60 cm table would block the way.
- In a storeroom or beside a cabinet, rolled in on its castors.
Folded, both tables pass through a standard doorway edge-on and roll on their own castors, so one person can move them.
Table height and chairs
At 78 cm, both tables sit a little higher than most dining tables. Ordinary dining chairs work well. Chairs without armrests slide closer to the table and suit a snug room better.

Every new table comes with free island-wide delivery and in-home setup. We bring it in, set it up where you want it, and run a full shuffle before we leave, so there is nothing to assemble.
